Over his career, Paul has won more than 60 of the most prestigious advertising awards in the world for everything from film and radio to websites and social media. He’s led such iconic brands as Dos Equis, TD Ameritrade, Slim Jim and Miller Lite. Paul’s work has been profiled by Good Morning America, The Today Show, Sportscenter, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and well, TMZ. Currently, Paul Johnson is a freelance writer/creative director based in New York City.
Prior to freelance, Paul was Executive Creative Director at Havas New York overseeing the TD Ameritrade and Dos Equis accounts. In 2018, he helped TD Ameritrade win 3 Cannes Lions (along with a Titanium shortlist) while delivering the best business results in the history of the company. Paul was also a writer and creative director for Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World campaign. In the legendary sendoff to Mars, the “Adios Amigo” campaign received over 2 billion impressions in the first 24 hours alone.
Before Havas, Paul was Executive Creative Director at Saatchi New York where he pitched and won Miller Lite. For the beer brand’s 40th anniversary, he helped bring back the original white can and dramatically revitalized their business.
Paul has also held writer/creative director positions at such acclaimed creative agencies as Venables Bell & Partners in San Francisco and Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami. He created ground-breaking and highly acclaimed campaigns for such clients as MINI Cooper, Burger King, Miller High Life, Volkswagen, the Montana Meth Project, and HBO Video. During his time at Crispin Porter Bogusky, the agency was named Creativity Magazine’s Agency of the Year three times.
